Six years have passed and I am proud to report that Adam Bailey and his charity, Building Foundations, has awarded full tuition scholarships to twelve worthy students.

In 2008 when I retired, a former student and athlete, Adam Bailey (NMHS class of 1988), created a scholarship in my name to benefit worthy New Milford students who were attending college and who would benefit from financial assistance.

Six years have passed and I am proud to report that Adam Bailey and his charity, Building Foundations, has awarded full tuition scholarships to twelve worthy students. These students have received a total of $280,000 in financial assistance during the last six years. This year alone, Adam is providing eight students with a total of $80,000 in tuition assistance.

This year Adam is once again awarding two scholarships. He has expanded the scholarship to include worthy students from other high schools as well as continuing his commitment to New Milford students. Kelly McNaughton is a graduate of New Milford High School who is a freshman at Rutgers University. Levar Alyssa Francis is a freshman at City University of New York. Both recipients have also had the distinction of serving as interns at Adam’s Law Firm during the past year.

Current scholarship recipients include senior Brittany Amoroso who attends The College of New Jersey, Junior Breanne Springstead who attends Rutgers University, Junior Racquel Beckford who attends Trinity College, Sophomore Jennifer Teets who attends The College of New Jersey, Sophomore Aissatou Diallo who attends Hunter College, and Sophomore Keilon La Barrie who attends Buffalo State University.

Three recipients have now graduated from college. Alejandro Hincapie graduated from Rutgers University in 2014 and is working at the Guggenheim Museum of Art in New York City. Kinjal Desai graduated from Rutgers University in 2012 and is now enrolled at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University. Merlyn Jacob graduated from Rutgers University in 2012 and just recently graduated from Mercy College with a certification as a Physician’s Assistant.

Through his generosity and his mentorship Adam Bailey and his Building Foundations Charity has changed the lives of these worthy students. I thank him for establishing a scholarship in my name and I thank him for helping these students to realize their dreams.
