Dear Mr. Bailey:

I am a third year student at the College of Law writing to introduce myself and express my gratitude as the recipient of the 2009-2010 Adam Leitman Bailey P.C. Scholarship.

I came to law school from Olympia, Washington but I spent most of my childhood in Japan. As an undergraduate, I attended Indiana University where I majored in East Asian Studies. My decision to enter law school stems from my background living in both Japan and the United States. I have always been interested in a career that will link me with these two places. With my degrees I plan to pursue a career in international trade.

I am currently pursuing a second degree in international relations at the Maxwell School. The scholarship has allowed me to fund both my legal and graduate education without taking multiple student loans or seeking part-time employment. This financial freedom has enabled me fully concentrate on academics and allowed me to be involved in the Journal of International Law and Commerce; the Carbon Climate Law Review -an environmental trade publication; the Clinical Program in Community Development; and the Asian and Pacific American Law Student Association. My success at the College of Law and Maxwell is linked to my ability to pursue activities and employment opportunities without the worry of financial constraints, which would not have been possible without your generosity.
