Mikaela Zambrano Cervantes
Mikaela Zambrano Cervantes graduated from Information Technology High School in Long Island City, New York in the spring of 2019 with a diploma in Career Technical Education. Ms. Cervantes will attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She plans to major in both Political Science and Economics and hopes to become an attorney in the near future.
As part of the Building Foundations organization, Adam Leitman Bailey founded the Raymond “Hap” Harrison scholarship over a decade ago, in honor of his high school cross country and track coach, who inspired him greatly. Since then, the scholarship has been awarded each year to recent high school graduates planning to attend college in the fall.
This year Adam Leitman Bailey presented the Raymond “Hap” Harrison Scholarship to Mikaela Zambrano Cervantes of Information Technology High School in Long Island City, New York. Ms. Cervantes served as the President of the Student Body at her high school and was a member of the National Honor Society, School Leadership Team, Principals Cabinet Team, and the Borough Student Advisory Council. Mikaela also graduated from NYU’s Aspire program while having her own student blog on their website. Mikaela also interned with the Deputy Leader of the NYC Council, Jimmy Van Bramer.
